On 18th April, we left Etosha National Park (Gondwana Etosha Safari Lodge), for our long over 420km drive back to Windhoek. By Google maps this is 4 hours, but in reality it was more like a six hour drive! I had decided to break our journey in Otjiwarongo which was essentially half way and visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund.
The drive there was beautiful - we went through the Otjiwarongo and out onto a farm following the sat nav! We had up to this point only seen two cheetahs in captivity at Omaruru Game Lodge. These cheetahs were also clearly not in the wild, but it was a fabulous opportunity to see them up close and personal. We were able to see them being fed too and it was such a fantastic stopover.
Rested, watered and suitably ready for the rest of the 236km to Windhoek we set off again two hours later at 3pm for the 3 hour drive - phew! We did make it back in one piece though, and returned our car directly from our little house (1232 NAD / £56) at Arrebush Travel Lodge.
