Lions and Opera

Having eked out our time at the Toshari Lodge a bit (we could have done another game drive but I felt that relaxing and swimming had a higher priority!), we drove the 11 minutes down the road to our next stop, Gondwana Etosha Safari Lodge which I had booked for 2 nights on Booking for 5941 NAD (£272).

This lodge had a much bigger feel than Toshari the night before. It would be hard to recommend one over the other and we really did enjoy both.

Gondwana was great though to meet or be amongst other people and we had a complete surprise to be able to listen to an opera concert with soprano Sabina Vinke and tenor Stefan Vinke from Germany. The concert looked out over Etosha National Park at sunset and was truly remarkable!

The next day, 17th April, we headed into Etosha for our final game drive in the afternoon. Tiger really made me laugh with her comment "oh Mummy, not another game drive!". But I felt overall that we did balance things well at Etosha with camping, two lodges, two game drives and lots of swimming!

On our second drive, Tiger fell asleep for some of it (around 3pm!), but did wake up and we once again visited the elephants at the water hole (including some lovely babies). We also saw plenty of zebra and rhinos from far away but the absolute highlight was the lions. Whilst we had seen them from far away on our first game drive, we saw three females and one male lion just a few metres away. It was absolutely incredible!

On Friday 18th April, with a heavy heart, we checked out in order to drive the 6 hours back to Windhoek!
